In the new book, Exakta Collection, A&R list 5 variations of the Exa 1a Version 2 based on the different engravings on the camera top plate next to the winding lever.

Version 2.1 - "Ihagee Dresden" is engraved

Version 2.2 - the Ernemann (Pentacon) tower is engreved.

Version 2.3 - "Aus DRESDEN" is engraved.

Version 2.4 - no engraving

Version 2.5 - "DRESDEN" alone is engraved.
