The Kodak Retina IIIS, Typ 027 |
The Kodak Retina IIIIS, was the last Retina Rangefinder Camera manufactured with interchangeable lenses. In terms of quality, it was a professional caliber, precision instrument, every but as good (if, not better) than any other rangefinder of its day, including the venerable Leica. Lenses supplied for it were manufactured both by Schneider Kreuznach in focal lengths from 28mm to 200mm and Rodenstock München in focal lengths from 30mm to 135mm. It is one of my favorite Retinas, not as light or as compact as the folding versions but a great camera in every respect.
It is displayed here with the uncommon Rodenstock 50mm f1.9 Retina-Heligon lens, which commands a very substantial premium over the more commonly encountered Schneider Xenon and Xenar 50mm lenses.
