Someone sent a postwar 66 for a new photo gallery and there was something unusual about it. While inspecting the camera I noticed the serial number was 015. An extremely low number!

Generally, post war cameras with numbers of this type are considered pre-production units. What does 'pre-production' mean?

A pre-production camera could be a test for the assembly line process. The test of course, being to make certain all machinery and tooling was properly adjusted before manufacturing a large number of items. Imagine the mayhem after making 1000 cameras with several wrong-sized parts!
