Another reason for running a series of test cameras would be to finalize the mechanical design of a camera. Let's make 20 and see if they work! ;-) I like cameras of this type - they provide me with a little research for entertainment. Pre-production cameras are a great place to discover the evolution within a camera design.

I like to start by looking for obvious differences on the exterior of the body. All you need is a second camera (or photo's) for a comparison.

I picked up a 'normal' postwar 66 and started looking. A visual comparison revealed nothing... ...so I got a ruler and started measuring the various parts.
